I have aftermarket wheels. Will your kit still work?

In most cases, yes.

The main thing you need to check is the outside diameter of your wheel spacers. Ideally, they should be the same diameter as the OEM spacers, although a slightly smaller diameter should not cause an issue.

If your aftermarket wheel spacers are larger than the OEM spacers, this may interfere with the quick release system.

If they are too large, there are a few options:

  • The existing spacers can normally be removed and turned down to the correct diameter by a machine shop.
  • We can help with modifying the spacers if required.
  • Alternatively, get in touch with us and, if you can provide the measurements we need, we may be able to supply suitable replacement spacers.

Will I need to drill my swingarm?

On many models, yes.

Most of our kits include a small support plate on the sprocket side. Its purpose is to support the wheel/spacer assembly while the wheel spindle is removed, making wheel removal and refitting much easier.

On these models, the support plate is normally fitted by drilling and tapping the underside of the swingarm, in a similar way to fitting a shark fin.

However, this isn’t required on every bike. On some models, the support plate bolts directly into existing holes in the swingarm or forms part of the chain adjuster arrangement, so no drilling is necessary.

How do I position the sprocket-side support plate?

Don’t worry too much about getting the position absolutely perfect. The plate is there purely to support the wheel/spacer assembly while the spindle is removed, so its exact position is not critical.

The easiest way to position it is:

  1. Fit the wheel spindle into the bike with the sprocket-side wheel spacer in position.
  2. Offer the support plate up underneath the spacer.
  3. Position the plate so that it comfortably supports the spacer when the spindle is removed.
  4. Once you’re happy with the position, mark where the plate needs to be drilled and fitted.

As long as the plate sits correctly underneath the spacer and supports the wheel when the spindle is removed, you’re good to go.


How do I route and fit the rear brake line?

Our kits are generally designed to use a brake line that runs directly from the rear master cylinder to the brake caliper.

There isn’t one exact route that the brake line must follow, so don’t get too concerned about copying a particular layout. The important thing is that the line is secure, has enough movement for the suspension and isn’t able to rub, kink or foul on the wheel, exhaust or any moving components.

The way we normally install it is:

  1. Fit the 90° end of the brake line to the rear master cylinder.
  2. Route the line down behind the rear sets.
  3. Run the line along the underside of the swingarm towards the rear caliper.
  4. Secure the brake line to the swingarm using the P-clip provided.

Before riding the bike, make sure the brake line is secure throughout the full range of suspension movement and cannot contact the tyre, wheel, exhaust or any other moving parts.
